In 2018 Brookings published a blog highlighting a tipping point of global significance. According to their calculations, just over half of the world’s population could be considered ‘middle class’ or ‘rich’. In an interview in January of this year, one of the authors of that blog, Homi Kharas focused on the pivotal role of the global middle class in geopolitics.
